Healthy profits are generated through a healthy workforce, which is why the “People Factor” forms a key element in the Karsten philosophy.
In order to accommodate his staff whole-heartedly in the organization, Piet Karsten converted the business into a company in which shares were made available to employees. In 1997 a new initiative was launched and preference shares were offered to the workforce. Presently 350 workers and managers are shareholders in the company. During the preparation and packing season, Karsten Group provides 3000 jobs, which includes 600 permanent staff.
To ensure that our workforce keeps up with the company’s growth, the following is implemented:
• Skills-training at all production units by either ex ternal training companies or through on-job training.
• Refining and improvement of management is secured through:
• Improvement of productivity resulting in better financial advantages for all parties.
• Promoting prospects for workers showing the required potential.
