A selection of the best Pomegranate varieties available in South Africa is grown in specially selected climatic regions on some of the Karsten Farms in the Orange River. This unique fruit is rapidly gaining recognition for its amazing wealth of healthful and healing properties, in addition to its good looks and tangy taste. Fresh-cut, food, beverages, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries are interested in the huge potential it offers.
The fruit is nearly round with a tough, leathery skin is light or deep pink or rich red. The interior is separated by membranous walls and white, spongy, bitter tissue into compartments packed with sacs filled with sweetly acid, juicy, red, pink or whitish aril. In each sac there is one angular, soft or hard seed.
The Karsten Group’s Pomegranates are harvested during February and March. |
