Tesco Director Tim Lee, who was responsible for the development of Tesco’s global direct sourcing project, is reported to be leaving the company. Mr Lee has played a crucial role in the company’s direct sourcing business out of South Africa.

According to a report in The Grocer, Mr Lee, and fellow director Alex Dower will leave Tesco soon.

Fresh category director Alex Dower is joining UK sandwich chain Pret A Manger, while fellow director Tim Lee is moving overseas to take up a post with Fresh & Easy in the United States.

Mr Dower, said the publication, oversaw the integration of the operations side of Tesco’s fresh produce business into the rest of the company, while he was also responsible for heading up the group’s ‘price pledge’ and ‘buy for less’ promotions.

Mr Lee is set to become Fresh & Easy’s fresh trading director.
